‘Say you Love Me’ Creative Writing Workshop
For Advanced Higher English Pupils
Karen’s play “Say You Love Me“ is the subject of the current creative writing workshop initiative. Schools involved include Paisley Grammar (the very successful pilot launch), Notre Dame, Inverclyde and the Council wide programmed West Dunbartonshire initiative.
The Learning Context:
As a teaching and learning resource to support, stimulate and inspire within the Creative Writing element of the Advanced Higher course, this workshop is based on the text, “Say You Love Me”. Engaging students in an initial presentation of the play itself, the subsequent workshop will involve Discussion; Writing activities; Textual Analysis; Appreciation of Critical Terminology and Dramatic Techniques; Reflection and Evaluation of students’ own work and also of this exemplar text. The workshop serves to offer an extremely useful skills platform for the development and completion of this sizeable component of the Advanced Higher course.
“I could really engage through seeing the play and then being able to ask about it from the writer’s point of view” Advanced Higher English Pupil, SYLM Workshop Participant
“I had a better understanding of the play when viewing it. Also, it was much more dynamic and a good learning technique to engage us all” Advanced Higher English Pupil, SYLM Workshop Participant
“I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and would recommend everyone to do it” Advanced Higher English Pupil, SYLM Workshop Participant
